Blog, Wiki or Forum - which should you use?   

A Blog presents an online web log (journal) or news column that one individual owns. The owner may allow multiple contributors, comments, links to outside sources, with a one-to-many posts and many-to-one comments. Moodle supports blogs. 

A Wiki presents an easily edited set of web pages that readers may edit, add to and/or modify in real time by the wiki group. Wikis present a work in progress where consensus continually grows and develops with many-to-many communication. The most up to date communication displays. Levels of access such as:  private - select members may view and/or edit, public - anyone may view and/or edit and semi - a mix of private and public,   protect the integrity of the wiki. Peer editing offers a powerful collaboration tool. Moodle supports wikis.

A Forum presents a noticeboard or message board where people start new topics and/or discuss and respond to old topics in an asynchronous environment (not at the same time, synchronous, like a chat room).  The Administrator owns the forum and monitors the activity.  Members posts in a forum list in chronological order within the thread. Many-to-many communication text driven with some forums allowing use of avatars. Posters identify themselves. Moodle supports forums and chat rooms.
